When we connect using SQL server method, we need to make sure that selected login user has sufficient rights to update the database; but when we use Windows authentication, we do not have those features\/options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this blog, we will be looking into one of the resolutions for the error that occurs when we choose windows authentication and try to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/acumatica-cloud-erp\/\">Acumatica<\/a> ERP website from our local IIS.<br><strong>Error: &#8211;<\/strong> &#8220;Login Failed for user &#8216;IIS APPPOOL\\apppoolname&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database.png\" alt=\"Cannot open database\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steps to resolve the error:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open IIS (1) and select the Application Pool assigned to your ERP instance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on Application Pool (2) and select Advanced Settings (3) <strong>OR<\/strong> click on Advanced Settings (3) from the Actions section.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database-1.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px;\" title=\"Acumatica User Login Failed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database-1.png\" alt=\"Cannot open database 1\" width=\"834\" height=\"441\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>3. Once the Advanced Settings dialog box is opened, navigate to <strong>Identity<\/strong> property (1) and browse its values to change it from ApplicationPoolIdentity to Custom<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database-2.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px;\" title=\"Cannot open database 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database-2.png\" alt=\"Cannot open database 1\" width=\"553\" height=\"585\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>4. Select Custom account (1) and click on Set button (2).<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database-3.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/acumatica\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Cannot-open-database-3.png\" alt=\"Cannot open database 3\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>5. Enter the system Username, Password, and Confirm Password on Set Credentials dialog and click OK.<br>6. Recycle your application pool and restart the IIS. This step is optional and only required if the changed are not reflected.<br>7. Now, we can browse\/Launch our ERP instance without the error of login failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> If the credentials of the entered user are changed, then it needs to be updated here as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is how we can overcome the error when an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/acumatica-cloud-erp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Acumatica<\/a> ERP instance is connected using Windows Authentication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acumatica ERP allows us to connect database server using Windows Authentication as well as SQL Server Authentication.
