Field teams use their devices a lot, to take and upload site photos directly into Acumatica<\/a>. We had observed a problem with one of our setups where field users with iPhones could not upload photos on the Daily Field Report screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upload did not work because iPhones usually save images in.HEIC or.HEIF format and this was not allowed in Acumatica\u2019s file upload settings by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Problem<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When users tried to upload photos from their iPhones into the Daily Field Report screen Acumatica showed an error. Would not let them upload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This happened mainly because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* iPhones save photos in HEIC\/HEIF format<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Acumatica only allow image types like JPG or PNG<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* The.heic and.heif extensions were not in the allowed upload file types<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fix<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We fixed the issue by changing Acumatica\u2019s file upload settings to allow these file extensions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*.heic<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*.heif<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we added these formats to the allowed upload types, users could upload photos, from their iPhones without any errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steps to Allow HEIC\/HEIF Uploads in Acumatica<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To fix this, do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go to System Management, then Preferences and then File Upload Preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add.heic to the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add.heif to the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Save the changes.After you update the preferences try uploading from your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Option for iPhone Users<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do not want to allow HEIC\/HEIF formats in Acumatica, iPhone users can change their camera settings to capture photos in a compatible format like JPEG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the iPhone go to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Settings \u2192 Camera \u2192 Formats \u2192 Most Compatible<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This setting makes sure new photos are stored in JPEG format of HEIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why This Matters<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many field employees use iPhones for site reporting, inspections and documentation. Supporting image formats makes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* User experience better<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Mobile upload reliable<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Daily report creation more efficiently<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Reduced support tickets from field teams<\/p>\n\n\n\n
