We\u2019ve all been there. You open a record in Creatio, notice key details modified, and nobody seems to know who touched it. Data auditing isn’t just a regulatory checkbox for compliance teams. It’s a lifesaver for daily operations, troubleshooting rogue workflow updates, and keeping teams accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creatio<\/a> has a robust built-in Change Log, but most end users don’t want to navigate deep into system settings every time they need to check who changed a field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s take an example of how we can track certain fields in the Opportunity<\/strong> object in Creatio and display those updates with a single click right on the record page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Enable Logging on the Opportunity Object<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before you can show historical changes, you have to tell Creatio what to listen for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Click the gear icon to open Settings<\/strong>, then head to Change Log<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Find the Opportunity<\/strong> object in the list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Toggle on Enable logging<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click Add<\/strong> under the Logged Columns section and select the specific fields you want to monitor (e.g., Budget<\/em>, Category<\/em>, Decision maker<\/em>, Opportunity amount<\/em>, Stage<\/em>, Type<\/em>).

    Look, you don’t need to track everything. Focus on high-value fields like Budget<\/em>, Stage<\/em>, Decision Maker<\/em>, and Opportunity Amount<\/em>. Tracking every transient field will just clutter your database, so keep it tight.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Step 2: Add the “Open Change Log” Button to the Layout<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Now for the user-friendly part. Instead of making your sales reps or managers run around the system to view these logs, let’s put a simple button right on the Opportunity page layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Open any Opportunity record and open the page designer (Section Wizard).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Grab a Button<\/strong> component from the left panel and drop it into your page layout (the top right toolbar near your primary actions works great).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. In the right-hand panel, set the Title<\/strong> to Open Change Log<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Scroll down to the Action<\/strong> section and select Open change log<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Under Log display settings<\/strong>, select Open the log for a selected record<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Ensure the data source points to Opportunity | DS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Click Save<\/strong> on the preview page to apply your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Step 3: View the History in Action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      So, what does this look like in practice?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Navigate to any Opportunity record where changes have occurred and click the Open Change Log<\/strong> button you just created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
