The posting date is the transaction date used by Day End Processing in Inventory Control when it creates journal entries for the general ledger. The posting date determines the fiscal year and period to which transactions are posted in the G\/L.
\nNew Stuff:<\/strong><\/span><\/em> Migrate Sales Order Shipment from Sage Business Vision to Sage 300 ERP <\/a><\/span>
\nIn Sage 300 ERP we have an option \u201cDefault Posting Date\u201d<\/strong> in Order Entry \u2013> O\/E Setup \u2013> Options under \u201cProcessing\u201d<\/strong> tab as shown in the below screenshot to select the default date that will appear in the Posting Date field for New O\/E Shipments, O\/E Invoices, Credit and Debit notes.

\nThe \u201cDefault Posting Date\u201d<\/strong> dropdown contains following list of values as shown in the above figure:
\n1. Document Date
\n2. Session Date
\nDocument Date:<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou can select this option if you want the posting date and fiscal period to match the document date. After you select this setting, when you change the document date on a transaction entry screen, Sage 300 will automatically change the posting date same as the document date.
\nLet us consider an example, suppose you have set the option for the \u201cDefault Posting Date\u201d<\/strong> as \u201cDocument Date\u201d<\/strong>.
\nWhile creating a new shipment entry, when you change the \u201cShipment Date\u201d<\/strong> then the \u201dPosting Date\u201d<\/strong> field value will change automatically as the selected Shipment Date as shown below:

\nThe same behavior can be checked for the O\/E Invoice, Credit and Debit Note.
\nSession Date:<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou can select this option if you want the posting date and fiscal period to match the current session date. After selecting the option for the \u201cSession Date\u201d<\/strong> when you change the document date on a transaction entry screen, Order Entry keeps the session date as the default posting date.
\nLet us consider an example, suppose you have set the option for the \u201cDefault Posting Date\u201d<\/strong> as \u201cSession Date\u201d<\/strong>. As shown below the session date is set to \u201c20-06-2015\u201d<\/strong>.

\nSo now, while creating a new shipment entry, when you change the Shipment Date,<\/strong> the Posting Date<\/strong> value will change automatically to the session date as below screenshot:

\nThe same behavior can be checked for the O\/E Invoice, Credit and Debit Note.
\nThis is how the user can set the default Posting Date while creating the new entries of O\/E Shipment, O\/E Invoice Entry and Credit\/Debit Note.
