A Bill of Lading is a legal document between shipper of particular goods and carrier \u2013 whether it be a trucking company, railroad, ship or via airfreight. It specifics the type, quantity and destination of the goods being carried and is used to acknowledge receipt of shipment of goods. It is a contract protecting shipper by guaranteeing payment and satisfies the carrier that the recipient has proof of right to the goods.<\/p>\n

Bill of lading is sent to buyer by shipper upon payment for the goods, and is proof that the\u00a0recipient\u00a0is entitled to the goods when\u00a0received. If there is no bill of lading, there is no delivery.<\/p>\n
