This Bill of Material lets user define the Quantity of raw materials required in specified Units of Measure to build the finished good.<br \/>\nIt also takes into consideration the Fixed and Variable costs. E.g. you have a process say Painting a design or polishing a decal for which you require a specific tool which is rented at specific cost per assembly then you can define the rent as a fixed cost for that assembly. Similarly, if you require some special recipe\/material, which is not maintained in inventory but is treated as an expense per assembly, then it can be defined as Variable Cost for that assembly.<br \/>\nHere each assembly might contain sub-assemblies i.e. preparation of Cheese Salsa Wrap contains preparation of Salsa sauce, which is prepared before the recipe. This sub recipe also has its own set of raw materials, which is defined in system and will consume quantities defined in bill of material. In Sage 300 ERP, user has the liberty based on its process to select whether the sub recipe runs separately first and then the master recipe or both recipes can run simultaneously.<br \/>\nSimilarly, there can be more than one method or preparations of certain master items, which can be stored in system and then based on the requirements, User can run the process to arrive at the same. Say for an instance, you sell 2 variables of a Car\/fast food item. Then you might not wish to maintain the same item as a separate SKU just because it has few attributes different than the other.
