Sage 300 provides a functionality called GL consolidation, this functionality helps to merge or Consolidate GL accounts and transaction information from one company to another. It helps organization to define the consolidation of GL account balances and provide the overall audit trail.
We have seen the working and use of this functionality in one of our previous blogs ‘GL Consolidation feature in Sage 300<\/a>‘

During this process of Exporting and Importing, user can face many errors that can be unknown. One such common error that can be faced is ‘CSVI.C-Open- Ended Quoted String’
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"G\/L<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n


The GL transactions export files are generated in GL import file Single CSV layout. So when one imports this exported file, it sometimes throws an error. This error is mainly caused due to special characters entered in the transactions. This can be traced further in the Transaction descriptions that are present in one of the exported files. To help solve this issue, you can either fix it in Transactions or source company or simply right click the exported file and open with notepad. The special characters can then be deleted which are visible to human eye. If not, then the error is most likely caused by an invalid character (Blank space) entered in the source company. This invalid character will breakup the entry into two lines in the exported file that is to be imported. Thus the first line will then end without a proper format or quote. To help resolve this problem, we need to remove the invalid character from the entry in the source company or this can be fixed in the exported files also. One needs to open the exported file with Notepad or Notepad++ (font wrap) and look for possible error (line breakup ). Correction in the import file can be done by deleting the blank space, and then combining the two lines back into one. Once this is done, the corrected file can be re-imported in the Target company. Or if this is fixed in the source company instead of editing with Notepad, then the file can be re-exported and then can be imported in the target company.
