The login failed.<\/strong> \u201c While installing CRM patches with SQL Server and MSSQL services both available on the same SQL server??? As the error says there might be many reasons for it to not to connect to database like network\u00a0dis-connectivity, database not accessible through the port assigned or insufficient privileges.<br \/>\nThe most common error that occurs with latest versions of CRM is because we need to provide the port number of database server too at the time of installation. This port is always by default 1433, however sometimes users install multiple versions of SQL server on db server both of them consuming the same port i.e. 1433. In this case while installing CRM it won\u2019t be able to identify which SQL server to connect to through the port number entered, hence the port number of any one has to be changed.<br \/>\nBelow is how you can do the same on database server. Before doing this we have to identify the open TCP port to be used on database server and used the same here. I am using 1434 for demonstration purpose.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open SQL Server Configuration Manager from Start menu.<\/li>\n<li>Go to SQL Server Network Configuration<\/li>\n<li>Select Protocols for MSSQLServer<\/li>\n<li>Right click on TCP\\IP<\/li>\n<li>Enter TCP Port Number (For e.g. 1434) in all the sections.<\/li>\n<li>Click Apply and OK button.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click and restart the SQL Server service for changes to take effect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you are done with the above changes run the setup file to install the patches and enter the specific port number.
