However, while working on Sage CRM 7.3 version we encountered an issue during lead to opportunity conversion process.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>\u00a0New Stuff:<\/strong><\/em><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"Wrapper error in Sage CRM \u2013 Part 2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/2015\/06\/02\/wrapper-error-in-sage-crm-part-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wrapper error in Sage CRM \u2013 Part 2<\/a><br \/>\nAs we all are aware of the basic principal of Sales, we have to tag a Company or Person record against the Lead, before converting it to opportunity. But recently while working with Sage CRM 7.3 I was constantly facing an <strong><em>\u2018unexpected event error\u2019<\/em><\/strong> whenever I tried to add a person against the Lead.<br \/>\nI had been following the basic steps i.e.\u00a0 \u2013 .<br \/>\n1. Creation of new Lead.<br \/>\n2. Clicked on \u2018Add or find Person\u2019 to enter\/select the Person record against the Lead.<br \/>\n3. Clicked on \u2018Select Person\u2019 button.<br \/>\nBut as soon as I was done with step 3, below error occurred on my screen restricting me from converting any of my leads to opportunity stage.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/11.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10444 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/11.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"602\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nOn examining, I found below mentioned sql logs been created in system.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10445 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"622\" height=\"99\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nOn further investigating, I came to know that it was something which was correlated with the <strong><em>Deduplication<\/em><\/strong> functionality &amp; the <strong><em>Match Rules<\/em><\/strong> used with respect to it. Since from Sage CRM version 7.3 we have a control to set the duplication rule i.e. AND &amp; OR; this rule works nothing different than operators used in SQL query. So no matter whether you set the Deduplication functionality enable or disabled; conditions will always check the data as per the match rules defined in CRM.<br \/>\nIn my scenario, <em>Person Last Name<\/em> field was marked as non-mandatory on Lead entry screen. Whereas, it was marked as required on Person entry screen. So, whenever I tried to add a new person record in CRM and select the same to tag against the lead it kept on comparing the Person Last Name field values of both Lead entry screen and Person entry screen. Thereby, throwing me an unexpected event error and further disallowing me to convert the lead to opportunity.<br \/>\nI changed the Match rule set defined for Person entity from <em>Pers_LastName<\/em> to <em>Pers_FirstName<\/em> and it resolved the issue. You can also try marking the field mandatory on both the screen.
