The checkbox field creates a list of tick-able options. Checkbox fields have their limitation we can use them to have only 2 options. In Sage CRM If checkbox field is checked then \u2018Y\u2019 value is stored in database and if it is unchecked \u2018Null\u2019 value is stored in database.<\/p>\n

If User wants the ability to store values or answers such as Yes, No, Maybe<\/strong> rather than a simple ‘check’ then in that case User can directly create selection field in Sage CRM and add options as per their choice.<\/p>\n

Now, let\u2019s say if there is a requirement to change existing checkbox field to behave like selection field. Is it possible to convert the type to selection field in Sage CRM? Answer would be yes. We can change the data type of the checkbox field.<\/p>\n

In Sage CRM, the entry types of fields are defined in Custom_edits table. Entry type value 45<\/strong> indicates that field is a Checkbox and 21<\/strong> indicate as Selection field.<\/p>\n

Now in order to convert the Check box to Selection field, we can execute below query in back end.
\n“Update Custom_edits set Colp_EntryType=21
\n<\/em>\u00a0Where ColP_ColName = <Checkbox Field Name>;”<\/em>
\nAfter executing the above Query log into Login to CRM and do Metadata refresh. Now the visibility of the field would appear as Selection field. We can add selection options in this field and added values would appear for selection.<\/p>\n
