Today I will share few ideas of setting default value for fields. Default values can be set at Field and Screen level.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>New Stuff<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/em><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/2016\/03\/30\/provision-to-filter-emails-only-in-crm\/\" target=\"_blank\">Provision to filter Emails Only in CRM<\/a><\/span><br \/>\nRefer the below screenshot of Field level default value. We can directly select the field and set the value that needs to be displayed on new entry screen.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NoteField.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NoteField.jpg\" alt=\"NoteField\" width=\"985\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe other way of setting default value is through below script that can be added at screen level on Create script content.<br \/>\n<strong>Defaultvalue = \u2018Training solution for 40 users\u2019;<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12552\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen-1024x546.png\" alt=\"Screen\" width=\"595\" height=\"317\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe outcome of above two approaches will result in setting the default value on <strong>Details<\/strong> field on New Opportunity screen. Refer below screenshot.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NewOppoScreen1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12550\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/NewOppoScreen1-1024x447.png\" alt=\"NewOppoScreen\" width=\"595\" height=\"260\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nSometimes we face issues with setting default values for the fields which are defined in Status block screen. Status block exists on Opportunity and Case screen. The field Assigned to and Team exists on Opportunity status block. Upon trying the below field level default value option, the value on entry screen does not reflect with default value.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Assignedto.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12548\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Assignedto.png\" alt=\"Assignedto\" width=\"809\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe reason behind this, the control of status blocks for Opportunity and Case entity is handled by their respective Workflow primary rules.<br \/>\nNow to set the default values for the fields which are added on status block, we can navigate to,<br \/>\n<strong>Administration | Advance Customization | Workflow | Opportunity Workflow<\/strong><br \/>\nSelect <strong>New Opportunity<\/strong> Primary Workflow rule. Refer below screenshot.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Workflow.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12554\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Workflow-1024x633.png\" alt=\"Workflow\" width=\"595\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nFrom Workflow Action grid, select <strong>oppo_assigneduserid<\/strong> field and for setting default value to Assigned to field, Copy and paste below code on Value column as shown below.<br \/>\n<strong>#user_userid#<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Assignedtoworkflow.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12549\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Assignedtoworkflow-1024x473.png\" alt=\"Assignedtoworkflow\" width=\"595\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAbove syntax sets current logged in User as default value on Assigned to field on new opportunity screen.<br \/>\nSimilarly we can set the default value on Team field by adding below script on Create script section as shown below.<br \/>\n<strong>DefaultValue=CurrentUser.user_primarychannelid<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Team.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-12553\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagecrm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Team-1024x466.png\" alt=\"Team\" width=\"595\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Calibri',sans-serif; color: black;\">Once done, navigate to new opportunity screen and you will observe default values are set for &#8216;Assigned To\u2019 and &#8216;Team&#8217; fields.
