Sage CRM has inbuilt feature for document upload. Using these feature we can upload documents against standard entities like Company, Person, Communication, Case etc. In Sage CRM, we can also apply security management for Documents. So that, one user cannot view the document uploaded by other user of different territory. We can also add documents in Shared Documents tab through which it will be accessible to all users. Documents will be uploaded in Sage CRM through \u201cAdd File<\/strong>\u201d, \u201cDocument Drop<\/strong>\u201d and documents attached to the emails which are imported in Sage CRM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Stuff<\/strong>: Edit File without installing plugin in Sage CRM 2023 R1<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In previous version of Sage CRM, we can restrict users from uploading specific type of document. For e.g. If admin user does not want to allow pdf files to be uploaded in Sage CRM then he can add \u201c.pdf\u201d extension in the \u201cFile Extension Restriction<\/strong>\u201d field. But, this restriction only applies to the “Add File<\/strong>” and “Document Drop<\/strong>” library options and not for email attachments.\u00a0The drawback of this option is every time System Admin have to remember the restricted file extensions and he have to reupdate them in Sage CRM which is very risky task. As System Admin have to aware of any new malicious file names every time and same has to be restricted in CRM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now with the release of Sage CRM 2023 R1, System Admin don’t have to remember the file extension which needs to be restricted for upload. He has to only define the file extensions that to be uploaded in Sage CRM. Please follow the below steps to do the same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Login into Sage CRM.<\/li>
  2. Go to Administration\u00a0\u2192\u00a0Email and Documents\u00a0\u2192\u00a0Documents & Reports Configuration<\/strong>.<\/li>
  3. Set the File name extensions to be uploaded in Sage CRM in \u201cFileExtensionAllowed<\/strong>\u201d field. You can set the file extensions as comma separated.<\/li>
  4. You can also set whether the executable file will be uploaded in Sage CRM or not by setting the \u201cFileExtensionAllowExe<\/strong>\u201d field to Yes\/No<\/strong>. And add the file name extensions of executable files in the \u201cFileExtensionAllowed<\/strong>\u201d field.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    As displayed in above screenshot, \u201crtf,xls,xlsx,ppt,pptx,pdf,csv,xml,txt,jpg,jpeg,bmp,gif,png,svg,zip\u201d file extensions has been set in Sage CRM. So, files with this extension will be uploaded in Sage CRM and if any file extension is missing in the list and user tries to upload that extension\u2019s file then that file will be blocked as shown in below screenshot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If executable files are allowed to be uploaded in Sage CRM then below are some file extension which Sage CRM allows as executable files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    com, cpl, dex, dll, exe, fon, mz, scr, sys, iec, ime, rs, tsp<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Sage CRM 2023 R1 has the ability to identify executable file by checking its header. It identify the executable file even if any changes have been made to file extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In this way, In Sage CRM 2023 R1 we can add the file extensions to be uploaded in Sage CRM. And user can upload files on the Shared Documents tab or attaches files to a calendar task, email message, or communication using the “Add File<\/strong>” button or “Drop files here to attach them<\/strong>” area, or files emails against a record in Sage CRM using the “Import Emails<\/strong>” button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
