More often than not, we bump into a scenario wherein we need to change the key (code) of Masters or Transactions. In this blog we will see how to change the keys in Sage X3.
\nBefore we go ahead to change the key, we need to make sure that the window corresponding to the master or transaction that we are about to change has the following setting:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Locate the window of the Master\/transaction for which we are going to change the key. For Sales order it would be \u2018OITM\u2019 window.<\/li>\n
  2. Open the Window say \u2018OITM\u2019 from: Development <\/strong>-><\/strong> Processes <\/strong>-><\/strong> Windows.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Go to \u2018Predefined Buttons\u2019 tab and locate \u2018Key Change\u2019 button.<\/li>\n
  4. Set the \u2018Y\/N\u2019 option to \u2018Yes\u2019 for \u2018Predefined Buttons\u2019.<\/li>\n
  5. Finally \u2018Save\u2019 and \u2018Validate\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \"\"<\/a>Now, follow the below mentioned steps to configure the change key process:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Go to Development <\/strong>-> Utilities <\/strong>-> Miscellaneous <\/strong>-> Key change set up. <\/strong>This would pull up the Key change setup screen.<\/li>\n
    2. Enter a code for this setup say \u2018ITMKEYCHG\u2019 and check the \u2018Active<\/em>\u2019 box.<\/li>\n
    3. In the grid, enter the object to which our Transaction belongs in object field, in case of Products it is \u2018ITM<\/strong>\u2019.<\/li>\n
    4. Now in the, \u2018Former code\u2019<\/em><\/strong> field enter the key(code) of the product that needs to be changed.<\/li>\n
    5. In the \u2018New Code\u2019<\/em><\/strong> field enter the new key for this product.<\/li>\n
    6. Finally \u2018Save<\/em><\/strong>\u2019 and close the screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \"\"<\/a>This way, you can create multiple key change objects on the same screen.
      \nSo, now let us change the keys for our Product:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Go to Development <\/strong>-> Utilities <\/strong>-> Miscellaneous <\/strong>->\u00a0Mass Key Change.\u00a0 <\/strong>This would pull up a window with a grid containing \u2018Key Change code\u2019 we created above.<\/li>\n
      2. Keep the \u2018Simulation\u2019<\/em><\/strong> box checked and click \u2018OK\u2019.<\/li>\n
      3. On successful simulation run, uncheck the \u2018Simulation\u2019 box and click \u2018OK\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
