As I am diving further into Configurator, I am getting more and more fond of it. In our last blog, Simplify product creation using Configurator in Sage X3<\/a>,\u00a0we saw how to create Configurator. In this article, we will see a simple but awesome use of Configurator i.e generates products automatically.<\/p>\n

You can do so from \u201cCommon Data <\/strong>->\u00a0Configurator <\/strong>-> Automate Configurator <\/strong>\u201c<\/p>\n

  1. On the Automate Configurator screen, fill the appropriate site and the Scenario. This would populate the characteristics tab with the default information set on Configurator Script (Scenario) screen.<\/li>\n
  2. Now go to the \u2018Parameters\u2019 tab, here you would see the Symbols set for the Scenario.

  3. Right click on the first line (Symbol) and select \u2018Selection Response\u2019 option. This would display a pop up window with all possible responses (answers) for the given Symbol (Question).<\/li>\n
  4. Double click on the \u2018Selection\u2019 field and the Response will get selected.<\/li>\n
  5. Repeat the same procedure for other Symbols (Questions) as well.<\/li>\n
  6. As per the selection is done, the \u2018No of combination\u2019 field will display the number of products that will be created out of this combination.<\/li>\n
  7. Keep the Simulation box checked and click OK. This would do a test run and will check if the products can be created without any error.<\/li>\n
  8. One positive result from Simulation run, you can uncheck \u2018Simulation\u2019 box and Click \u2018OK\u2019. This would create the products, thereby relieving you of the repetitive work of Product Creation.
