Because to manage alcohol & distillery needs, we did a customization for users in Sales\/Excise Module to apply sales tax and excise duty on their products so that it will enable them to price their products with tax values for the different states. Because most states charge multiple taxes on liquor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this customization, the old tax structures of Excise and VAT is used instead of the standard GST rules. Accordingly, the rates of these taxes vary from state to state. Moreover, the sales transactions have some statutory fields like import fees, hologram charges, etc. Since these fields are not present in the standard system, we have provided these fields in the transaction level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have applied a formula on these fields, such that when the user inputs any numerical value in the field, the total amount will be calculated on the basis of the formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enter state-wise formula for all the additional fields, we have provided one new screen \u201cState Formula Definition\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refer below screenshot in which we have defined formulas for each state in the required fields of the State Formula screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To use fields in the formula, abbreviations are given in the header. Use those abbreviations to enter the formula after selecting the State Code in the header. After saving the data, when you select customer having the same state in any Sales Transaction, formulas entered in this screen will be applied and calculated values will be displayed in the transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before entering formulas, user have to enter data in the Sales Price List for \u201cT20: Cust\/Product price\u201d type price list as shown in the below screenshot. Values which you have entered in the price lists for the particular customer and product code combination will be considered while calculating the formulas at transaction level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, as per the client\u2019s terminology, the selling quantity will be in number of cases, where 1 case can be equal to 12 or 24 bottles, depending on the product. Hence, all selling quantity will be referred to as cases. We have added Number of Bottles drop-down field in the product master. It\u2019s value can be 12 or 24, depending on the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below is the detailed description of the fields which we have added in the detail line of Sales Transactions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will consider Maharashtra State to check the calculations with example. For Maharashtra, State Code is 27. We have added State Code field in the customer master. On the basis of that state code, state-wise customization will work in the transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As shown in the above sheet, values which are getting displayed in the header part of the sheet are the values we have entered in the Price List for Maharashtra state customer. And after price list values, calculated values which should be displayed at transaction level after applying formulas are mentioned in the sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also as per our standard functionality, after posting Sales Invoice, Journal Entry will be generated. But in this customization, for each calculated charges field and taxes field, new line with the calculated value will be generated in Journal entry. In our case, Journal Entry of the posted Sales Invoice is generated as shown in the below screenshot:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the basis of state and formulas, excise duty, taxes and other field\u2019s calculation will be done in Sales Transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
