In Sage X3<\/a>, Work Orders are most commonly created from the Manufacturing module or directly from the Sales Order screen. However, there is another powerful yet lesser-known option available \u2014 creating a Work Order from the Project Management screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This blog provides a step-by-step guide to creating a Work Order using the Project Module, which is especially useful for project-based manufacturing scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Navigate to Project Management<\/strong>
Go to: Projects \u2192 Projects \u2192 Project Management<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Open Task Planning<\/strong>
Select the required Project. Click on the \u201cTask Planning\u201d option available in the header section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Select Task and Sub-Task<\/strong>
Choose the Task, then select the relevant Sub-Task under the main task.
Note:
The selected task must be launched. Task status should be \u201cStarted\u201d.
If the task status remains \u201cNew\u201d, the system will not allow product entry in the Products section for that task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: Add Product Details<\/strong>
Navigate to the Products section. Select the required Product.
Enter all mandatory details. Click Save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5: Open Manufacturing Option<\/strong>
Click on the three dots (\u22ee) menu on the product line. Select \u201cManufacturing\u201d from the available options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 6: Plan the Work Order<\/strong>
A pop-up window will appear. Enter all mandatory details required for Work Order creation. Click on the \u201cPlan\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 7: Verify Work Order Number
<\/strong>Return to the Products section. The generated Work Order number will appear in the Order No field.
Example:
In our case, the Work Order Z01WO26-00000075 was generated successfully after entering the correct details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 8: Verify in Manufacturing Module<\/strong>
Navigate to: Manufacturing \u2192 Planning \u2192 Work Order
Search using the Work Order number or Project reference.
You will see the Work Order created successfully for the selected project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although rarely used, the Project Management screen in Sage X3 provides an effective way to create Work Orders, especially for project-driven manufacturing processes. By following the steps outlined above, users can seamlessly generate and manage Work Orders directly from the Project Module.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
