{"id":32527,"date":"2026-08-28T06:05:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T06:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagex3\/?p=32527"},"modified":"2026-08-28T06:05:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T06:05:45","slug":"validation-on-the-sales-order-screen-restricting-deletion-until-work-order-is-closed-costed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagex3\/2026\/08\/28\/validation-on-the-sales-order-screen-restricting-deletion-until-work-order-is-closed-costed\/","title":{"rendered":"Validation on the Sales Order Screen \u2013 Restricting Deletion Until Work Order is Closed + Costed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/sage-x3-erp\/development-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/sage-x3-erp\/development-services\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sage X3<\/a>, clients often require strict control over Sales Order (SO) modifications, especially when linked Work Orders (WO) are involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, we received a requirement from a client stating that the system should not allow closing or deletion of a Sales Order (either the entire order or individual lines) unless the related Work Order status is \u201cClosed + Costed\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this blog, we explain the custom validation we implemented to enforce this business rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system must prevent:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Deletion of individual product lines on the Sales Order<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Deletion of the entire Sales Order<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Closing of the Sales Order<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We implemented validation in two places on the Sales Order screen :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manual Line Deletion (As shown in Fig1)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>When a user tries to delete a product line from the Sales Order and save the Entry&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The system checks whether a Work Order exists for that specific product line.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If a Work Order exists and its status is not \u201cClosed + Costed\u201d (i.e., it is still open), the system blocks the deletion and displays an appropriate error message.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only when the Work Order is in Closed + Costed status is the line deletion allowed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>New Stuff :<\/strong><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagex3\/2026\/08\/27\/preventing-repeated-negative-stock-errors-in-sage-x3-using-automated-stock-resynchronization\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagex3\/2026\/08\/27\/preventing-repeated-negative-stock-errors-in-sage-x3-using-automated-stock-resynchronization\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Preventing Repeated Negative Stock Errors in Sage X3 Using Automated Stock Resynchronization<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagex3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer \nnoopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px; \nalign: center;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/sagex3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image.png\" alt=\"Fig1.
