They may need this to help troubleshoot any issues the user might be facing by logging in to the user account and investigating the cause. The user can provide a fixed duration for which the access would be available to the admin or salesforce support personnel. This helps the support agents resolve customer cases promptly.

To provide access, navigate to My Settings → Personal → Grant Account Login Access. Here the user will be presented with two options, access to company’s administrator and Salesforce.com support. The user can select the duration (ranging from a day to an entire year) for which access will be valid from the dropdown next to those options. In the screenshot shown below, we have selected duration of a month for Salesforce.com Support.

The user can change the access duration from the same page or they can change it to “No Access” after resolution of the case from the salesforce support agent. In this way, the user can provide access to either the admin or support agent. However after the Summer ’15 release, administrators have the option of directly accessing any user’s account without requesting for approval from the user. The only scenario wherein user approval may be required by the administrators is if the admins have disabled the direct login functionality for their org by contacting support.

About Us
Greytrix as a Salesforce Product development partner offers a wide variety of integration products and services to the end users as well as to the Partners across the globe.
