Restriction for the Administrator is made possible through the set of privileges and permissions that this profile has, and one such permission is the ability to edit read-only fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you log in as a system administrator and make the field Read-Only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/salesforce\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1-Make-Read-only-field.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px; align: center;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/salesforce\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1-Make-Read-only-field.png\" alt=\"Make a Read-Only Field\"><\/a><\/center>\n<font size=\"2\"><center><i>Make a Read-Only Field <\/i><\/center><\/font>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After checking on a layout, the field is not changed to Read-Only, as shown in the below image, because the system Administrators have permission to edit read-only fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/salesforce\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-Layout-Preview.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #A9A9A9; padding: 2px; margin: 2px; align: center;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greytrix.com\/blogs\/salesforce\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/2-Layout-Preview.png\" alt=\"Layout Preview\"><\/a><\/center>\n<font size=\"2\"><center><i>Layout Preview <\/i><\/center><\/font>\n\n\n\n<p>If you really want to prevent the System administrator from editing read-only fields. There is permission called <strong>\u201cEdit Read-Only fields\u201d<\/strong> on the System administrator profile, like other profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The only problem is that you are not allowed to edit this permission in a standard system profile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can clone the system administrator profile and disable that permission in the new profile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Step to restrict the \u201cEdit Read-Only Fields\u201d checkbox:<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to setup and find <strong>\u201cProfiles\u201d<\/strong> in the quick find box.
