After that date, Sage will no longer issue software updates, fixes, security patches, payroll calculations, compliance updates, or technical support for the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For distributors, manufacturers, and wholesalers who have run their financials on BusinessVision for fifteen or twenty years, this is the most consequential announcement the product has had. It is also, in our experience, the one most likely to be misread \u2014 because the software itself does not switch off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>December 31, 2026 does not mean your BusinessVision software suddenly stops working. It means Sage stops maintaining and supporting it. It is important to be precise, because the two most common reactions we hear\u2014&#8221;we have to replace everything by December&#8221; and &#8220;nothing happens, so we&#8217;ll deal with it later&#8221;\u2014 are both wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the distinction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-9bfbe13062c0b04b56f98169190f3da0\" style=\"color:#c72127\"><strong>What stops on December 31, 2026:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Security patches and software fixes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Payroll calculations, payroll tax tables, and compliance updates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Technical support from Sage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendor-backed compatibility with future operating-system changes The application itself does not stop, nor does access to your existing files, and it will continue to run even after December 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk extends beyond day one, building over months as unsupported systems lose compatibility. Changes like Windows updates, bank file shifts, CRA rule updates without tables, or workstation failures each pose risks. Alone, survivable; together, without vendor support, they can cause downtime affecting payroll and ledger operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another crucial piece of information shared in Sage&#8217;s official customer FAQ is that as of October 1, 2026, BusinessVision support narrows to chat only until the December 31 retirement date. This means the window for a full-service call with Sage about your existing system environment closes about three months before the key date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-ce81646cafbdcc5b9f2feb9bdc47a596\" style=\"color:#c72127\"><strong>Where BusinessVision customers actually go from here<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sage&#8217;s official end-of-life guidance names two successor products: Sage 50 Accounting for straightforward small-business accounting, and Sage 300 for more complex requirements. Sage also confirms that conversion tooling exists for the Sage 300 route, and that the migration work itself is carried out by Sage partners rather than by Sage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In practice, BusinessVision migrations can lead to many destinations.
