Steps to Resolve Manual Matching Index Screen Error in Sage X3 ERP

While performing manual invoice matching in Sage X3, you might encounter an error message preventing the operation from completing for a specific account. This is often related to limitations in the screen size defined by the associated activity code.

In this article, we’ll walk through the steps to resolve this issue by adjusting the screen dimensions for the MTC activity code and validating the changes in the system dictionary.

1. Have All Users Exit Sage X3

Before making any changes to the configuration, ensure all users are logged out of Sage X3. This is crucial to prevent data inconsistency or unexpected behaviour during validation.

2. Increase the Screen Size of the Activity Code

  1. Navigate to:

Development > Development Setup > Activity Codes

  1. Locate and select the activity code: MTC
  1. Find the field labelled Screen Size. The default size is typically 500 in older versions (e.g., U9).
  1. Increase the screen size progressively. Common working values are:2000 → 10000 → 25000 (In our case, 25000 resolved the issue.)
  1. Click Save.
  1. Close the activity code screen.

3. Validate the Dictionary Changes

After increasing the screen size, the changes must be validated:
  1. Go to: Development > Utilities > Dictionary > Validation > Dictionary
  1. Make sure the correct folder is selected.
  1. In the Validation Type, choose:
  • Complete
  • Free
  1. Scroll down and enter MTC in the Activity Code field.
  1. Click OK to validate.

This process ensures that the changes are applied across the system.

Log out from sage x3 and Log back in and navigate to the Manual Matching screen.

The error should now be resolved, and the screen should operate normally with the updated configuration
