GUMU™ for Sage CRM – Sage 100 is a real-time, bi-directional integration solution that connects Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90/200) and Sage CRM. It syncs your data effortlessly, so you always have a complete, real-time view of customers and financials in both systems.
While implementing GUMU™ can significantly improve sales operations, even small configuration mistakes can lead to days of troubleshooting and sync errors. This blog highlights the Common Errors While Implementing and Using GUMU™ and provides tips to avoid them for a smooth integration experience.
1. Skipping Basic Pre-Requisites
Jumping straight into the GUMU setup without verifying OS versions, Sage CRM and Sage 100 versions, or required modules often causes failed installs or unpredictable issues.
- Confirm that Sage CRM and Sage 100 versions are supported for GUMU.
- Ensure required modules like AR, AP, SO, and IM are installed for the integrated company codes.
- Verify .NET, 64-bit ODBC, and Sage 100 workstation client are properly installed on the Sage CRM server.
2. Misconfiguring IIS and Web Services
Incorrect IIS setup can make GUMU web calls fail silently or return 404/500 errors.
- Enable classic ASP and required ISAPI/CGI extensions.
- Turn on Enable Parent Paths in IIS.
- In Sage CRM, set Allow Web Service Access to True for all GUMU users.
- Refresh metadata after installation to make new menus and components appear.
3. Using Wrong Country and Currency Settings
Mismatched country codes or currency settings can block promotions and result in incorrect pricing.
- Align country codes in Sage CRM and Sage 100.
- Ensure base currency symbols and codes match exactly.
4. Incorrect GUMU Configuration Values
Even small mistakes in the GUMU configuration screen can break integration.
- Do not change the DSN name GUMUMAS90.
- Double-check Sage 100 Home Directory, Company Code, Server Name, credentials, and synchronization direction.
5. Forgetting Security Matrix and Rights
User permissions can block GUMU functionality even when everything else is configured correctly.
- Grant rights such as Promote Customer, Promote Orders, View Sales Summary, Promote AR Invoice, Promote Vendor, etc.
6. Ignoring User Mapping Between CRM and Sage 100
Without proper user mapping, promoted records may appear under a generic integration user, making it difficult to track actions and calculate commissions accurately.
- Map each Sage CRM user to the correct Sage 100 user and salesperson.
- This ensures orders, customers, and commissions are correctly tracked.
7. Overlooking Country/Address Rules for Promotions
Promotions can fail if addresses are incomplete or incorrectly configured.
- Set the address type to Sage 100 or Shipping.
- Ensure country codes match Sage 100.
- For default addresses, select Set as default address for Company/Person.
8. Leaving Logs Disabled
Troubleshooting failed promotions, imports, or real-time updates without logs is nearly impossible.
- Enable Generate GUMU Logs on GUMU Configuration Screen.
9. Treating Real-Time Features as “Set and Forget”
Real-time sync is powerful but requires careful configuration and testing.
- Install and activate the GUMU module in Sage 100.
- Configure CRM URL, credentials, and enable checkboxes for customer, contact, ship-to, vendor.
By avoiding these common mistakes, you can ensure a smooth GUMU™ implementation, save time, and reduce errors. If any issues or questions come up during setup, we are always ready to help.
