For businesses that manage serialized inventory, quick access to customer-specific serial numbers is essential for sales, service, and support teams. However, retrieving serialized item information directly from Sage 100 can be time-consuming for CRM users, especially when frequent access is required.
One of our customers faced a similar challenge and needed a simple, reliable way to view and manage serialized items related to customers directly within Sage CRM—without switching between systems. The solution also needed to ensure data accuracy and prevent duplicate serial number entries.
The customer requested:
- Visibility of customer-specific serialized items directly in Sage CRM
- Elimination of duplicate serial numbers in CRM
- On-demand import of serialized items used in Sales Orders and Invoices
- A user-friendly interface aligned with standard Sage CRM navigation
To address these requirements, we implemented a serialized items synchronization customization as part of the Sage CRM–Sage 100 integration using GUMU™.
A new custom tab named “MAS Items Sync” was added under the Company context in Sage CRM. This tab allows users to view and import serialized items associated with the selected customer in a structured and controlled manner.
Serialized Items Data Storage
A dedicated secondary entity was created in Sage CRM to store serialized item records retrieved from Sage 100. Only serialized items related to Sales Orders and Sales Invoices are considered, and built-in validation ensures that duplicate serial numbers are not stored in the CRM system.
MAS Items Sync Tab
The MAS Items Sync tab provides a centralized view of all serialized items linked to the selected customer. The data is displayed in a structured grid format, making it easy for users to review and manage serial number information.
