In this blog, we explore a recent customization designed for one of our clients to strengthen authenticity for Sage CRM users by providing custom fields checking during order processing in Sage CRM. They wanted a way to validate and review line item final prices and margin values before proceeding with the order promotion process for non-admin Sage CRM users.
To address this concern,we introduced a new custom field called ‘Allow Profit Margin’ checkbox on new line item screen that acts as an approval mechanism for each line item price margin before promoting orders to Sage 100.

Key Functional Enhancements
- Role Based access control
- The “Allow Profit Margin” field is accessible only to Sage CRM System Administrators.
- For all other users, the field is read-only.
- Access is managed using native Sage CRM field-level security.
- Approval Workflow for Profit Margin Exceptions
- When a user (e.g., finchj) encounters a Profit Margin warning message, they cannot proceed directly
- The user must seek approval from a CRM Administrator
- Until approval is granted, the order promotion to Sage 100 is restricted
- Admin Approval Process
- The CRM Administrator user reviews the Quote/Order
- Approval is granted by simply checking the “Allow Profit Margin” box
- This ensures that only authorized personnel can override margin restrictions
- Controlled Order Promotion
Once approval is provided, the user can proceed with promoting the order from Sage CRM to Sage 100.
