Mailing reports after converting from Crystal Reports to PDF format

By | August 13, 2009

In our earlier posts we had described how we are able to print a pdf from SageCRM using FOP. Information in the above post enables you to get data from SageCRM tables and print it into pdf. We just enhanced the functionality by allowing the user to print any existing Crystal reports designed to run in SageCRM in pdf and attach it in a mail and send it.

The advantage with this approach was that the user can make any changes to the report format/design. The changes will automatically be transferred to pdf when the user decides to print it.

Well, the best way to do this is to convert the report in to a PDF document and then attached that PDF file to the email and can send to any email id. The mail would be send via SageCRM without opening the MS Outlook application. We can always add more functionality to it like filing a communication for the mail sent and attaching the converted pdf to the communication.
