Activation of changed Project Accounting Estimates

Business Problem

It is not rare that the Project Estimate provided to the client keeps changing frequently due to several factors such as change in the requirements, changes in cost, price, etc. or any other factor thereof. Client may requests for an estimate that was provided earlier to the one that is currently the Changed Estimate for the project.
As the same estimate is changed several times for the project to meet the changes no separate estimate exists for each changed Estimate. Once the client asks for an Estimate that was provided earlier, all the changes that have been made to the current Estimate have to be reversed or sometimes a new one has to be created due to restrictions on a Posted Estimate that causes an extra sub-project to be created for the Master Project. A lot of time & effort goes into finalizing this changed estimate with no guarantee that this change of estimate would not happen again.

Solution

To solve this situation, Greytrix has developed a customization where a user can activate any of the Estimates that were posted earlier. Using MAS 500 standard tables, in which a changed Estimate is stored for every Estimate posted, the user can activate the estimate that he desires to use by selecting the Estimate revision number through a customized screen.

Activate Change OrderWhen an estimate is activated the Project Status Info is brought to the same state as it was when the selected estimate was posted along with all the Estimate Lines as they were at the time of posting. The user can select any estimate revision number to & fro any number of times once an estimate is posted. A new revision is generated every time an estimate is posted even if an older estimate is changed & posted again.
