To address a specific client requirement, a Global Discount feature was delivered as a customization in the QLE (Quick Line Entry) screen, enabling more efficient and consistent discount management during the quotation and Order process.
Customization Overview
This enhancement was specifically designed and implemented based on client needs, ensuring that users can easily apply and manage discounts at both header and line levels within the QLE screen.
Key Features and Functionality
1. Header-Level Discount Field
As part of this customization, a new Discount field was been added at the header level, positioned beside the “Go” button on the QLE screen. This allows users to define a discount percentage before adding items to the quote.
2. Automatic Discount Application
Once a discount percentage is entered at the header level:
- The discount is automatically applied to all newly added items.
- This significantly reduces manual effort and ensures consistency across the quote.
3. Line-Level Discount Flexibility
To maintain flexibility:
- Users can also enter or modify discounts at the line item level within the grid.
- After making changes, the “Update” button must be clicked to apply and save the revised discount.
4. Important Behavior to Note
As per the implemented customization:
- Once the QLE screen is saved and closed, the header-level discount does not retain automatically.
- If additional items are added later, users must re-enter the discount percentage at the header level to apply it to new items.
