Prevent Salesforce Emails from ending up in Spam Folder

One common problem organizations face when sending emails to clients is that the email ends up in the Spam folder and the client misses out on their emails. Even though it is not completely possible to avoid salesforce emails from ending up in the spam folder, there are certain things we can do to lower the probability of them landing in the spam folder.

Here are a couple of things that can be done –

Enable Email Security Compliance: Navigate to Setup >> Administer >> Email Administration >> Deliverability. In the Email Security Compliance section, make sure that both the “Enable compliance with standard email security mechanisms” and “Enable Sender ID compliance” checkboxes are checked. The Sender ID compliance declares salesforce.com emails as coming from an authorized IP address.Emails

This setting will help to authenticate the emails which in turn will prevent the emails from landing in the recipient’s spam folder.

The other thing that can be done is request the receiver to have all the Salesforce IP’s whitelisted. As of now, Salesforce uses 52 IP addresses to send emails. To make sure that the user is receiving emails from all these 52 IP addresses, they can use Test Deliverability feature of Salesforce. We will be coming up with a blog on Test Deliverability soon.
