Sage Intacct R2 2026: One Change That Makes Every Deployment Easier

By | June 25, 2026

Configuration Objects are now generally available from R2 2026 release for platform applications — and if you’ve been managing environment settings the old way, you’ll feel the difference pretty quickly.

So, What Exactly Are Configuration Objects?

At its core, it’s a centralised store for application settings. Things like API URLs, client IDs, webhook endpoints, feature flags, environment names — instead of scattering these values across your workflows and templates, you define them once as key-value pairs and reference them everywhere using merge fields. It’s not a ground-breaking concept — configuration management has been a software best practice for years. But having it built natively into Sage Intacct platform applications means teams no longer need workarounds to get there

What You Can Do With It

Use Configuration Values Directly in Triggers and Templates

An HTTP Post trigger, for example, can now pull its endpoint URL straight from a configuration object rather than having it hardcoded in the trigger itself. Same logic applies to templates. Less brittle, easier to update, and far simpler to hand off when someone else picks up the application later.

Deploy Across Environments Without Touching Workflows

This is probably the biggest day-to-day win. The same application — same workflows, same triggers, same logic — can now run in Development, QA, and Production just by switching configuration records. No more pre-deployment checklists where half the items are “remember to update the URL in workflow X.”

Choose How Configuration Data Syncs

There are three sync modes, and they cover most real-world scenarios:

  • Full Synchronization — Updates existing records and adds new ones. Use this when you want the target environment to fully reflect the latest configuration.
  • Incremental Synchronization — Only brings in new records, leaving existing ones untouched. Good for environments where some settings are managed locally.
  • Data Mirroring — Deletes and rebuilds records to produce an exact match of the source. This is the one to reach for when you need environments to be identical, no exceptions.

Why It Actually Matters for Finance and ERP Teams

If you’re on the finance side and wondering why this is relevant to you — it’s about reliability. Applications that are easier to maintain and deploy consistently are applications that are less likely to break at the wrong moment. For teams running Accounts Payable workflows, approval chains, or automated journal entries through Sage Intacct, that matters.

For developers and implementation partners, the practical gains are:

  • One place to manage settings instead of hunting through every workflow and trigger.
  • Environment deployments that don’t require manual updates to application logic.
  • Fewer deployment errors caused by stale or inconsistent configuration values.
  • Cleaner, more maintainable applications that are easier to hand off or scale.

Available in R2 2026

Configuration Objects are live with the R2 2026 release. If your team is actively building or maintaining platform applications in Sage Intacct, it’s worth carving out some time to migrate away from hardcoded values — especially before your next major deployment cycle.

Check the R2 2026 release notes for the full details, or talk to your implementation partner about how to work this into your current setup.
