When working with Bill of Materials (BOM) items, selecting the correct revision is important because the revision determines which version of the BOM is used. To improve the line-entry experience, a customization has been introduced on both the New Line Item and Quick Line Entry (QLE) screens.
With this enhancement, the revision field displays the current revision for the selected BOM item by default. Users can edit the revision before selecting BOM options. Once the BOM options are selected and saved, the revision and options are locked to prevent further changes.
BOM Revision Selection
A revision field has been added to both screens to support the following functionality:
- Default Revision: When a BOM item is selected, its current revision is displayed automatically.
- Revision Modification: Users can change the revision number before selecting BOM options.
- Revision-Specific Options: Clicking the BOM Options button displays the available options for the selected revision.
- Lock After Saving: Once the BOM options are selected and saved, the revision and options become non-editable.
How the Customization Works
The workflow is the same on both the New Line Item and QLE screens:
- Select a BOM item.
- Review the current revision displayed by default.
- Change the revision if required.
- Click BOM Options to view the options available for the selected revision.
- Select the required options and save the selection.
After saving, the revision and selected options are locked to prevent further changes through these fields.
Improved BOM Entry Experience
This customization provides a consistent revision-selection process across both screens. By displaying the current revision automatically and allowing users to select the required revision before configuring BOM options, it makes BOM entry more straightforward and helps maintain the saved configuration.
