A business needs to send Marketing emails to client to grow their commercial. Some of them need to store the consent received from client whether they are interested in receiving such marketing emails or not. Need of storing consent is required based on the privacy laws of your region. With the release of Sage CRM 2018 R2, Consent concept is added in Sage CRM to store consent received from Customers against their Contact records. Consent can be created against Person or Lead entities.
Consent tab is available against Person or Lead entity from where we can create Consent record. One or more multiple consent records can be created against Person or Lead. It allows you to register if you have consent from Person or Lead to receive marketing material, what marketing materials can be sent to them etc. We have explained creation of Consent record in below blog link.
Once the consent record is created, its status will be defaulted as “New”. Whenever you want to send Consent email to client, click on the “New Consent E-mail” button available on Consent summary screen as explained in below blog link.
Request for consent can be sent with the Sage CRM’s predefined email templates which has “Accept” link. Once a client clicks on the link, his acceptance will be recorded against their record in Sage CRM. To modify the predefined email templates follow the below steps.
- Login to Sage CRM.
- Go to Administration -> E-mail and Documents -> E-mail Templates.
- There will be different templates for Person and Lead entity.
a. Lead Consent Email: This is the email template which will be triggered when consent email against lead is triggered.
b. Person Consent Email: This is the email template which will be triggered when consent email against Person is triggered.
- Click on the desired template hyperlink and modify the content as needed. Do not modify the Accept link content as after clicking on this link, clients consent gets recorded in Sage CRM. Below is the screenshot of Person Consent Email Template for Accept Link content.
Once client clicks on the Accept link it will be redirected to Thanks page where it will display message as “Consent received” as shown in below screenshot.
As the consent is given by client the status of Consent record changes to “Consented” as shown in below screenshot.
Suppose, we want to redirect to our custom page after client clicks on the Accept link. For this we tried to modify the email template to accommodate our custom Thanks page. But, No Luck! After doing RnD we found that, we can add our Custom Thanks you page in Custom URL. This URL will be changed to all links in a consent email. To make this changes follow below steps.
- Login to Sage CRM.
- Go to Administration -> E-mail and Documents -> E-mail Configuration
- Set the Custom Thank you page of your website in “Consent Response URL” field.
If no value is specified in this field then the default Thank you page opens.
In this way, you can modify Consent Response URL so that, when a recipient clicks a link in a consent email, it will redirect to the custom Thank you page rather than opening the default confirmation page. You can easily redirect the recipient to any URL you want. For example, it can be a custom confirmation page, a thank you page, or any website.
