Renaming the Standard Entity in Sage CRM

Native Sage CRM consists of Primary Entities and Secondary Entities. Sage CRM users can also create Custom entities within Sage CRM. We received customization requests from customer few days back in which they asked to rename the “Opportunity” entity to “Job”. Therefore, we thought to document it as a blog so that anyone can do it himself/herself.

New Stuff: Disable Keyboard Enter Key in Sage CRM Screens

This can be easily achieved by changing or updating the existing Translations of Opportunity entity. For renaming Opportunity entity with Jobs, Sage CRM administrator user have to modify all the entity related translations.

Below is the list of Translations that needs to be modified.

Below are the steps and instructions to rename the entity in Sage CRM.

  • Logon into Sage CRM with Admin user.
  • Click on Profile Menu | Administration | Customization.
  • Select the Translations option.

  • Enter Caption Family and Caption Code and find the translation listed into the above table. For Example, Row 1 Translation from the above table.

  • Click on the Translation and modify US Translation and UK Translation with Jobs and click on the Save button.

Note

Here, we are changing UK Translation and US Translation. If there’s a requirement for a French translation or Spanish translation then we will be modifying those columns instead of UK translation and US Translation.

  • Similarly, the user needs to update all the translations mentioned in above table.
  • For modifying Find screen Translations, the user needs to navigate to Administration | Advanced Customization | System Menus and select “Find” from the list.
  • Select Opportunity and change Caption to Jobs.
  • Click on the Update button and then click on the Save button.

  • Execute the Metadata Refresh once all the captions are updated as explained above.

Once done, user can verify that Opportunity will be renamed as “Job” within Sage CRM.

In same way, users can rename any other entity just by renaming their respective Translations as discussed above.
