Sage Intacct R1 2026 introduced a few updates in Platform Services and Customization. On paper, they may look like small enhancements. But from a practical standpoint, they solve some real operational gaps.
Two updates especially caught my attention:
- Customer Health Insights
- Smart Rules & Smart Events now working with AP and AR reversals.
Let me explain why these matter.
- Customer Health Insights – Finally, Finance Gets Visibility
In most companies, customer health data lives in a CRM. Finance teams rarely see it unless someone shares a report. That separation creates blind spots.
Now, Sage Intacct allows you to store customer health details directly in the customer record.
Three new fields have been introduced:
- Health Score (0–100)
- Health Status (Healthy, At Risk, Escalated, etc.)
- Churn Risk (True/False)
It sounds simple. And honestly, it is. But the impact can be meaningful.
Imagine opening a customer record and immediately seeing:
Health Status: At Risk
Health Score: 62
Without switching systems. Without waiting for a meeting.
As a finance user, that changes the conversation. Instead of reacting at renewal time, you can align early with Sales or Customer Success.
This moves finance from “reporting what happened” to “anticipating what might happen.”
Another practical advantage: these fields can be populated through API or CSV import. So syncing data from your CRM is straightforward. No complex customization required.
It’s not a flashy feature. But it’s strategically useful.
- Smart Rules & Smart Events Now Trigger on Reversals
This one fix something that has quietly bothered administrators for years.
Earlier, if you reversed an AP bill or AR invoice, Smart Rules and Smart Events wouldn’t trigger. That meant automation (Smart Rules and smart events) worked for AP Bills and AR Invoice creation — but not for reversals.
Which is odd, because reversals can be just as sensitive.
With R1 2026, that gap is closed.
Now when a reversal creates a new record, Smart Rules and Smart Events can trigger — provided your conditions match.
There are a few technical details worth noting:
- Only the “Add” event triggers automation for reversal records.
- Editing a reversal later won’t trigger it again.
- Smart Rule warnings are not supported during reversal operations.
These are small limitations, but they’re important to understand during configuration.
From a control perspective, this enhancement is significant.
For example, if an AP bill is reversed, you can now:
- Automatically notify a finance lead
- Trigger an internal workflow
- Record compliance actions
- Start downstream processes
In regulated environments, this makes automation more consistent and audit-friendly.
