When a sales order includes BOM (Bill of Materials) items, managing them can quickly become complicated. Each BOM may contain several components that come from different vendors. Traditionally, users need to expand the BOM manually, identify each vendor, and then create multiple purchase orders. This process takes a lot of time and often leads to mistakes.
To simplify this, we developed a custom screen in Sage 300 that automates the entire process. With this tool, purchase orders for BOM items are created directly from Order Entry, split automatically by vendor.
How it works:
The system checks whether the sales order item has a BOM number.
If yes, it expands the BOM into its individual components.
Each component is matched with its preferred vendor.
The system then generates the required purchase order or orders, depending on how many vendors are involved.

Example:
Suppose a BOM item has two components: one linked to Vendor X and another to Vendor Y. The system will automatically create one PO for Vendor X and another for Vendor Y—saving time and ensuring accuracy.
