In the dynamic and competitive business landscape, maintaining a strong relationship with customers is principal for success. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) plays a crucial role in achieving this objective by helping businesses understand, manage, and enhance their interactions with customers. Effective communication is the foundation for understanding the needs and preferences of customers. Through various channels such as emails, surveys, and social media, businesses can gather valuable insights into customer expectations. By actively listening to customer feedback, companies can tailor their products and services to meet evolving demands, ultimately fostering loyalty.
Sage CRM helps to users increase customer satisfaction and loyalty by providing timely and relevant information. The Communications module contains Tasks, Appointments, and Emails. These elements can be linked to specific entities such as Leads, Companies, People, Opportunities, and Cases. When accessing the Communications tab within the Company and Person modules, users can view all communications related to the respective Company or Person. Also, Sage CRM has a built-in calendar where users can manage their/Team meetings and to-do list by creating items called tasks and appointments. Users can view all the communications in Sage CRM by using calendar list Tab. In the calendar list user can be able to view the communication details like Company name, person name, type of communication and subject.
One of our client raise the concern about the users inability to view certain records, specifically Company or Person details, in the calendar list. We have checked the root cause of the concern and come to know this behaviour is the standard functionality of CRM. Whenever users create tasks and appointments in Lead context those records in Calendar list display the details without Company or Person. In the calendar list display only those records with Company or Person details which company and person records are available in Company and Person context or created only once the lead has been fully qualified and is ready to be converted to an opportunity. As a lead exists outside of the context of a person or company. Refer below screen shot highlighted row does not display Company and Person name.
To display the desired information in the Calendar List, modifications to the system views are necessary. This solution involves adding the required columns and leveraging SQL functions. By adjusting the views in this manner, we can ensure that the Calendar List accurately presents the information as per the user’s preferences.
To change the view, follow the below steps:
- Go to Profile Menu and Click on Administration.
- Administration→ Customization → Communication.
- Click On View Tab and then click on vCalenderList.
- Click on Change.
- Make the changes in vCalenderList view script and click on Save.
Note: These changes are applicable to Calendar List Only, not in Calendar Tab. After making changes refer the below screenshot.
However, there are limitations in the Calendar List regarding the display of company names and person’s names in a hyperlinked form. Clicking on them allows navigation to the respective company and person. Unfortunately, these features are not available for prospect/Leads company and person names.
This showcases the flexibility of Sage CRM to accommodate changes. It is advisable to have these modifications performed by an expert, as alterations in the system view may impact CRM functionality.
