Every business wants a better understanding of its customers’ purchasing patterns. Recently, one of our customers approached us with a requirement to view sales data over longer periods directly within Sage CRM.
The customer was already using the existing Rolling 12 Months field but wanted additional visibility into customer sales history over multiple years. They also wanted a quick way to see the total sales generated in the previous year without running separate reports.
To address this requirement, We implemented four new sales analysis fields within Sage CRM:
- Rolling 24 Months
- Rolling 36 Months
- Rolling 60 Months
- Last Year Total (LY Total)
Requirement
The customer wanted sales information that would help their team:
- Analyze customer purchasing trends over longer periods
- Compare sales performance across multiple years
- Quickly access historical sales figures from within the CRM screen
- Reduce dependency on manual calculations and external reports
Solution
We created three new rolling sales fields:
Rolling 24 Months
This field displays the total invoiced sales generated during the last 24 months.
Rolling 36 Months
This field displays the total invoiced sales generated during the last 36 months.
Rolling 60 Months
This field displays the total invoiced sales generated during the last 60 months.
All three fields follow the same logic and behavior as the existing Rolling 12 Months field. The values are calculated automatically and are available as read-only fields within Sage CRM.
In addition, we created a new Last Year Total (LY Total) field.
This field displays the total invoiced sales for the previous year, allowing users to quickly review last year’s customer sales performance.

- View customer sales history over 2, 3, and 5-year periods
- Identify long-term purchasing trends
- Compare current performance with the previous year
- Make better sales and account management decisions
- Access important sales information without generating reports

The customer now has improved visibility into historical sales data directly within Sage CRM. Sales teams can quickly evaluate customer performance, identify growth opportunities, and make informed decisions using data that is readily available on the CRM screen.
