Various Types of Optional Fields in Sage 300 ERP

Sage 300 ERP provides one very useful feature of Optional Field by which one can add/capture additional information in the system. To create the optional fields’ one can navigate through:

Common Services -> Optional Fields

When one opens the Optional fields’ screen, one is able to see multiple types of optional fields that can be created in Sage 300 ERP like

 1. Text
2. Amount
3. Number
4. Integer
5. Yes/No
6. Date
7. Time

In this blog we will be seeing the purpose/use of all the different types of optional fields available in Sage 300 ERP

  • Text: This type of optional field is used for any type of alpha numeric entry. When one uses this type of optional field, one can enter any detail in the optional field. One thing to keep in mind over here is the character length, for this type the character length is 60.
  • Amount: This type of optional field is used for entering only Amount values. When one uses this type of optional field, one can enter only Amount value in the optional field.
  • Number: This type of optional field is used to enter only numeric values. When one uses this type of optional field, one can enter only Numeric values. The maximum number of decimals that can be entered is up to 9
  • Integer: This type of optional field is used to enter the integer values. When one uses this type of optional field, one can enter all the integer values. The highest actual integer that can be entered is 2147483647.
  • Yes/No: This type of optional field can used to have checks where one can have track of supporting
  • Date: This type of optional field is used to enter date values. When one uses this optional field, one can enter only date values.
  • Time: This type of optional field is used to capture time value. When one uses this optional field, one can enter only time values.
