As per the client requirement, the Delivery Date in the Customer BP Invoice screen of Sage X3 must be entered before the invoice can be posted. To fulfill this requirement, a validation has been implemented to restrict invoice posting when the Delivery Date is left blank. The user must enter a valid Delivery Date before proceeding with the Post action.
1. Delivery Date in Customer BP Invoice
When creating a Customer BP Invoice, the user enters the required invoice and payment information. The Delivery Date is available in the Payment section of the invoice header. In the following screenshot, the Delivery Date has been entered as 09/11/26.

In the following screenshot, the Delivery Date field is left blank. In this scenario, the user has not provided a Delivery Date. Although the Post button is available on the Customer BP Invoice screen, the invoice cannot be posted without entering a Delivery Date.

2. Posting Is Restricted When Delivery Date Is Blank
If the user attempts to post the Customer BP Invoice while the Delivery Date is blank, the system prevents the invoice from being posted. This validation has been introduced to ensure that the required delivery information is captured before the invoice is posted into Sage X3.

Validation message:
Delivery Date is mandatory before posting
Customer BP Invoice.
3. Entering the Delivery Date
To proceed with posting, the user must enter a valid date in the Delivery Date field.
For example, once the Delivery Date is entered, the field displays the selected date, and the user can proceed with posting the invoice.
4. Business Rule
| Delivery Date Status | Invoice Posting |
| Delivery Date is blank | Posting is restricted |
| Delivery Date is entered | Posting can proceed |
5. Why This Validation Is Important
Making the Delivery Date mandatory helps maintain complete and accurate invoice records in Sage X3. It also ensures that the invoice-processing procedure follows the client’s business requirement.
By restricting posting until the Delivery Date is entered, the system provides an additional validation step and prevents incomplete Customer BP Invoices from being posted.
6. Conclusion
As per the client requirement, the Delivery Date is mandatory for posting a Customer BP Invoice in Sage X3.
When the Delivery Date is left blank, the system restricts the user from posting the invoice. Once the required Delivery Date is entered, the user can proceed with posting. This enhancement ensures that the Delivery Date is consistently captured before the Customer BP Invoice is posted, helping maintain accurate and complete transaction information.
