Quality Acceptance sampling is a method to measure the quality of the products at a minimum cost. The Acceptance sampling method was originally developed for the manufacturing industries and but other industries like the pharmaceuticals have stretched out their wings to adopt the sampling method as well.
In Sage X3, QC Sampling logic supports the ISO 2859 standard. In order to setup quality sampling you need to make some primary modification related to Sampling in the Product-Site screen. As displayed in the screenshot below:
- The Sampling value should be changed to ‘Single’.
- Then select the AQL (Acceptance Quality Level) as deemed appropriate for the selected product. You might want to set a lower AQL If your customers accept very few defects.
- There are two options for the sampling mode: Lot and Global.
Global: the grouping is carried out by product,
By lot: the grouping is carried out by product and lot.
The sampling process is carried out during the quality control process. Suppose we receive the product ‘RAC1’ (as displayed above) with Quantity 1000. While performing the quality control process, we can enter the Sampling details by clicking on the ‘Sampling Entry’ option which can be accessed by right click on the detail line (Refer screenshot below)
Since quantity = 1000, the sample quantity that need to undergo the QC process is routinely calculated using ISO standard as 80. AQL being 2.5, the rejection size is obtained as 5 which imply the following:
- If more than 5 quantities in the sample are found to be defective then the function will automatically reject the entire lot of 1000 product.
- If the number of defective quantities is Less than or equal to 5 then all the products are accepted into the Inventory.
