Auto Close WO

In Sage X3, when production tracking is created for a work order and the WIP Posting is processed, the work order status automatically changes from “Pending” to “Closed + Coasted.”
However, one of our clients has requested an enhancement: they would like the work order to be automatically closed without the need to process the WIP Posting. In this scenario, the work order status should be updated to “Closed + Coasted” automatically.

To achieve this, the client needs to complete just two steps, after which the work order will be auto closed:

1. Material Tracking for the work order must be completed.
2. Production Statistics must be created for the same work order.

Next, we will provide detailed instructions on how to perform these two steps.

We have created a work Order – 1012504MFG000003 for FG Product 20000001 with 1 quantity and status of this work order is “Pending”.

As per this scenario, we need to perform the first step i.e.

1. Material Tracking for the work order must be completed.

To create Material Tracking, go to Manufacturing –> Production Tracking –> Material Tracking Plan.

• Enter the Site and Work Order No in the parameters and click on the “Search” button. The work order data will be displayed in the grid, as shown in the screenshot above Fig 2.
• Next, click on the “Validation” button. This will validate the work order, and a log will be generated.

After completing the above step, we need to proceed to the second step, i.e., Production Statistics for the same work order.

• To create a production statistics entry, navigate to Production Statistics → Production Statistics. This is a new screen developed specifically for this client, as shown in Fig 3.

We have created the Production Statistics for the same work order, completing our second step as well.

That means we have successfully completed both steps. Now, we need to check the work order status again. Refer to Fig 4.

The Status of this work order is “Closed + Coasted”.

In this way, by following these two steps, the work order status will be updated, and the work order will be automatically closed without processing the WIP Posting.
