How to Make the Payment Term Field Mandatory in the Customer Master Screen in Sage X3

Configuring mandatory fields in Sage X3 helps ensure data accuracy, enforce business rules, and maintain consistency across master records. One such important field in the Customer Master is Payment Terms, as it directly impacts billing and finance operations. In this guide, we walk you through the simple steps to make the Payment Terms field mandatory on the Customer Master screen, ensuring that users always capture this critical information during customer creation.

If the user is creating the customer master and requires the payment terms field to be mandatory within the financial tab, select the field and click Esc+F6 the screen name will appear, as shown below.

Then navigate to Development > Script Dictionary > Screens > Screens

On the left side, enter the screen name BPC3. Then, navigate to the Fields tab and search for the field name PTE (Payment Terms). Scroll to the right until the Mandatory Field column is visible, and select YES for the row corresponding to the PTE field.

As shown below.

After making the necessary changes and saving the screen, proceed to validate the screen to ensure the updates are correctly applied.

Now, when a user creates a new customer record, if the payment terms field is left blank, an error message will be displayed, prompting the user to complete the mandatory field.
