Calculation Part of Financial Data Extraction

By | April 19, 2012

We have already set up an FDE in X3 we will proceed a step further i.e. to be acquainted about the Calculation part of the FDE. The below article will help you in getting an idea regarding the FDE Calculation.

FDE Calculation

Function Path:   Financials > Reporting > Financial Data Extraction > Calculation
As the name suggest this functionality will let us calculate or update the calculation of a group of tables. The parameters are entered through a single screen based on selected Report Group.

The screen is divided into five sections:

    • Selection section
    • Generation section
    • List section
    • Parameter section
    • Variables section

  1. Selection section:
Report group: It is Field for the selection of the financial data extractions to be calculated. The selection can take place for a group, or several groups. In this case, it is necessary to leave the Report group field blank.
  2. Generation section: This section is based on versioning of the FDE Calculations.
“Automatic Version” – Auto versioning of calculations is possible through this check box if checked or manual version entry can also be done by entering value in “New Version”.
It is possible to recalculate FDE’s while keeping all the original parameters and to apply a shift only in terms of months. With this it is possible to automate the process of printing the monthly financial data extractions by avoiding entry of parameters.
  3. List section: The Table column presents all the tables making up the group as well as the version number to be generated if the information concerning said number has been modified manual or automatic version number.
Simply, it shows all (or selected Extraction codes) of selected Report Group. The extraction codes are shown under column “Grid”.
  4. Parameters section: For each Extraction code in the list, the user needs to put in list of required parameters.
  5. Variables section:
The values replaced by the variables can be entered in this last section. If the variable is controlled by a data type, a check will be performed on its existence.

Batch Task Feature

The FDE Calculation function can be executed in batch mode, but no dedicated standard task is delivered to execute it. For that purpose, new Batch Task needs to be created by navigating Usage > Batch server > Task Management
No print or inquiry is linked to FDE Calculation function. For that purpose, the FDE inquiry function is used.
This blog will be further continued with the illustration of how an FDE can be used for inquiry of the financial statements.
