Avoid Duplicate Record Creation in Sage CRM Version 2020R1

As we know every new version of Sage CRM is coming with many features which makes our business process trouble free. In Sage CRM we can add multiple records for all entities in which contact information of customer is added. Lead entity is mostly use to add new leads records, which is very important for business purpose.

At time of creating new lead Company name, person name and email address is added. Most of the time there Personal email ID and business email ID is identical, because this duplicate records are created in CRM. It’s created so many confusions to take follow up from the leads or many transactions in which email ID of company or person is used process for both records. Also after the lead progress its company and person also created in Sage CRM.

Till the 2019R2 version there is no restriction for the email address. To overcome all the problems of duplication in Sage CRM version 2020R1 there is one dedicated system configuration is added.

To enable the restriction on email address at time of creating new Lead. Navigate to Administration → System → System Behavior.

Initially value of “Detect Duplicate Emails” field is ‘No’ as shown in below screenshot. Set value of field to Yes.

For example try to create new lead with existing email ID, is showing a message “Cannot create the record because the email you specified is already used by an existing record. Specify a different email” as shown in below.

This configuration is also apply at time of creating new person or company, which is useful to avoid duplicate records.
